Fair Trade Cosmetics That Do Not Disappoint
If you guys remember, a couple of weeks ago I posted a blog about different places that sell fair trade products. Well, one of those places was LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, and I happened to pop in there last week to check it out. You guys, this company is so awesome it took all of one day before I was back in there again! Yes, I am a little bit of a shopaholic, but that’s not the only reason I couldn’t stay away. Here are some things that might explain why LUSH is such a magnet for me:
- Fair Trade – Duh. This one is obvious, but I’m going to spend some time talking about it anyways. These products are not 100% fair trade, BUT the ingredients that aren’t are more often than not purchased locally, so you’re still buying a product that was produced without slave or child labor. Now that is pretty awesome.
- Organic – Everything you might want to buy from LUSH is guaranteed organic and fresh! Not to mention handmade!
- Ethical – LUSH has their hands in dozens of different charities! They even have a lotion called the Charity Pot that you can buy and 100% of your dollars go to grassroots charities. Not to mention it’s made with fair trade cocoa butter! But wait, there’s more! They’re also environmentally conscious, making every effort to be green and encouraging others to do the same. To learn more about all the cool things LUSH is up to, click here. A couple of the partnerships that I think are pretty cool are Ecova Mali and Ojoba Women’s Shea Cooperative Bongo Soe Group.
Now what products did I try that made me fall in love? First I bought a bath bomb, which is basically a ball made with different ingredients that dissolve into a luxurious bath soak the second it hits water. Mine was made of sea salt and seaweed – as in actual bits of seaweed infused in the ball! As if I didn’t already feel like I was swimming in the ocean, it also turned the water blue! (By the way, I promise I’m not somehow getting paid to say all of this – LUSH is really just this great!) I went back for Big shampoo and conditioner,as well as some Herbalism face wash, and I’m in love with all three.
So what’s the point of me raving about this store (especially since I’m not getting paid)? I strongly believe that LUSH deserves our support, precisely because of all of the things I just told you about, but mostly for their fair trade products! They have locations in Lenox Mall and the Mall of Georgia, and if those stores are too far, check out their website. Comment below if you’re A) in love with LUSH like me or B) are planning on checking it out!
